Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is recognized for her outstanding performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards, among them an Oscar. Her acting career started in Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway initiatives. Passionate about acting since her primary school years, she was Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Her hearing loss was in one ear due to mellitus, but didn't permit this to deter the determination of her to become an actress. While in college, she took classes in theatre after which she moved from the Midwest to New York City in pursuit of her dream. She met Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart her first feature film. She moved in Los Angeles and tried to secure movie roles. For Swing Shift, she landed an appearance as a supporting character. She has since appeared in several shows and TV films over more than 30 years. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actor and has won the Women in Film Lucy Award.
